Durden Outdoor Wishes the Wiregrass Area a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

christmas-card-2011_aThis year has been a fantastic one here at Durden Outdoor thanks to all of our special clients that allow us to promote them all year long! The Spirit of Christmas takes place in many different environments. Some folks spend their Christmas’s in a white winter wonderland, and other spend it on the crystal white beaches of Gulf Shores by the bay in the sun. Some even spend it on the fairway traveling to Atlanta, perhaps detained by angry weather. Here in the Tri-state Area, we’ve been having a hot & humid Holiday Season. But that is the Joy of Christmas, that despite the rainy weather, we know that there is a reason for this special season. We celebrate with an attitude of giving and cheer. My fondest memories are visiting with my Uncle Lamar Murray, and watching the choir at our church sing Silver Bells, Jingle Bells, & Carol of the Bells. On a good night, my great grandfather would tune in to the only clear channel he had on the ancient radio he kept in his living room and we’d listen to Silent Night, Joy to the World & Do You Hear What I Hear. The new year is coming, and if you’d like to promote with us, please email sales@durdenoutdoor.com. We hope you have a very Merry Christmas & A Famous New Year! Thanksgiving & Black Friday in Dothan, Alabama

happythanksgiving Here is a little history to be thankful for… In 1621, the colonists and Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn’t until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. Thursday, November 24, 2011 will be a day of good home cooking, family, friends, and a time to be thankful for all that we have. I know most Dothan Citizens were thankful the gas prices went down the week of thanksgiving. This blessing came at a great time since a lot of Dothan Natives travel out of town to see their families. Here at Durden Outdoor Displays, we are thankful for our clients who continue to do business with us and our staff that works hard every day (even holidays) to get boards posted. The Durden Outdoor office will be closed Thanksgiving day so that our staff may spend time with their families. Regular work hours will begin again on Monday the 28th. If you’re out in Dothan, Alabama shopping on BLACK FRIDAY you might see our digital boards running early Friday morning. Durden Outdoor Attends a Ozark Chamber Of Commerce Event

dsc_5001The Ozark Chamber Of Commerce held an event in March hosting various businesses from Ozark, Alabama and surrounding areas to promote growth and networking between local businesses.  The meeting had about 40 area businesses represented.  Visitors were encouraged to walk around to pick up information, ask questions about product, and network.  For the Durden Outdoor Team it was an opportunity to talk with existing clients and introduce others to Durden Outdoor products..  Over all the even was a lot of fun.  The Chamber had a guest speaker who filled the auditorium with laughter a couple times. You can find a list of businesses who are members of the Ozark Chamber of Commerce here.
