Sales don’t magically happen on Black Friday; it is important to ramp up to this potential plateau to meet or even exceed your seasonal sales goals. ABC news reported a 5.4% gain in August 2012 over last year’s numbers. Historically, a positive back-to-school season means an equally robust holiday shopping season, but expect a lull during the period before Black Friday unless you take an aggressive advertising approach. Too many low-income consumers are strapped right now. They will spend for back-to-school and for the holidays, but for the remainder of the time, they’re very cautious about what they are buying.

Media experts rely on a blitz & sustain strategy during times such as these to ensure advertising dollars are spent efficiently. This means you fish when the fish are biting. In more relevant terms, savvy advertisers should focus their spend on key shopping dates, but not go silent in between. In today’s high pressure sales environment, you must be out there or you could quickly become invisible.
The Durden Digital Network is perfectly designed to capture your target audience with a heavier display schedule on key dates and a lighter (but not silent) spot load in between. The team at Durden Outdoor have put together several packages to help you plan and focus your advertising in the coming months. Durden’s Kreative team provides excellent marketing and design support to all their clients. Make sure you are taking advantage of the upcoming high seasonal traffic.
You may think it is only September, but it is time to start putting together your Plan of Action. Preparing for the holiday shopping season is an annual ritual that can’t be ignored. The best advice is to start early and stay late – customers start holiday browsing earlier every year, but the decision to purchase may not come as soon as you expect. Truancy/Violence Against Teachers Campaign launched

truancyHenry & Houston County Schools joined together with the District Attorney’s office to launch a campaign against Truancy and Violence against Teachers. Doug Valeska along with Tim Wilder (Dothan City Superintendent), Tim Pitchford(Houston County Superintendent),  and Lisa Knowles (Henry County Superintendent),  reached out to Durden Outdoor Displays when it came time to put this campaign into action. Twenty (20) Poster Billboards across Houston & Henry County will be covered with the multiple designs created by the Durden Art Department for this joint campaign. Not only did Durden Outdoor showcase this campaign with their billboards, but they also helped with creating the 25,000 rip cards that were sent home with students to explain the truancy law. These brochures/rip cards include a perforated edge to tear off, requiring a parent or guardian signature to indicate they have read and understood the law. All tear-offs should be returned to the school.
“We just want to send a message. Our number one interest is the children,” Valeska said. “Our job is to work with the children and keep them in school.”
Skip School, Deal with the DA. Truancy is any unexcused absence, tardy or leaving school without permission. A parent or guardian can face criminal charges if the child is not properly attending school. The student can face court-ordered probation, electronic monitoring, curfews and extensive counseling. Truancy complaints can be filed on a student between the ages of 7 and 17 if they have at least seven absences.
Hit a Teacher, Go to Jail. Valeska’s Campaign for Violence against Teachers is posted along with the Truancy Billboards. If you physically punch/hit your teacher or principal you could be subject to jail time. Durden Outdoor was very happy to help promote this important message to the parents and students of Houston and Henry County. If you have a message you would like to publicize please contact the Sales Department for further information on our outdoor billboards and other media.

ALABAMA Votes, Candidates Use Durden Billboards

March 13, 2012 is the congressional primary election. Who are you voting for? Eleven running candidates voted for Durden when they decided how to promote their campaign. We had the privilege of doing Eight Rotary Poster designs throughout the area, a bulletin in Dale County, & two digital billboards on our Durden Digital Network, which has 16 locations! Let’s meet the candidates who voted for us… Stuart K. Smith is an Ozark Attorney and Republican Candidate for the office of Circuit Judge, Place 1, within the 33rd Judicial Circuit, which serves Dale and Geneva Counties. Mr. Smith helped his campaign by using Durden’s Rotary posters. For past 6 years, Bill Filmore has been Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dale/Geneva Counties. Filmore handles the prosecution of major felony jury trials (usually sexual assaults and murder). Attorney Filmore also chose to promote his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Posters in Dale & Geneva counties. Ron Snell believes his qualifications and experiences, especially having taught in every Geneva County school cluster, make him the best candidate to advance all Geneva County schools as the Geneva County Superintendent. Mr. Snell chose to use rotary posters along with his other campaign elements. Fred Hamic seeks re-election to Geneva County Commission chairman/probate judge. Hamic says that in his first term he helped to get Geneva County on firm financial footing, and that the county currently owes nothing against its $10 million debt limit. He came to Durden for his outdoor advertising of his re-election campaign. Rotary Posters in Geneva County display his artwork created by our Art Department. Starla Mathews has served the citizens of Houston County as Revenue Commissioner for the past twelve years. It is this experience that leads her to seek the office of probate judge in Houston County, Alabama. Starla chose to promote her campaign on Durden’s Digital Network. Durden has a total of 17 locations when it comes to advertising digitally. Patrick Davenport believes it is important to have an attorney as Probate Judge. He graduated from UAB with a bachelor’s degree in history and received his law degree from Cumberland School of law at Samford University. Davenport said his opportunity to serve as special probate judge in the absence of Houston County Probate Judge Luke Cooley has given him a unique qualification to hold the office. Mike Stell’s mission is  to bring Barbour Counties Probate Judge’s office into the 21 Century. Snell wants to stop the long lines and make the office more “Customer Service Friendly.” Mr. Stell is promoting his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Poster in Barbour County. Steve Blair has operated a law firm for 25 years and served as Coffee County district judge for eight years. He was a 12th Judicial Circuit judge for two years and Enterprise’s municipal judge for the past six years. Mr. Blair is using Durden’s Digital Network in Enterprise to help promote his campaign to be Coffee County Probate Judge. Sharon Ard Michalic has 26 years working with Dale County. Her work experience began with the Tax Assessor and Tax Collector Offices before transferring to the Probate Office in 1994. She has had the privilege of working for two past probate judges. Now she is running for Probate Judge herself, and utilized Durden’s Rotary Poster to help her attain that spot. Woodrow (Woody) Hilboldt said his long work history in community-based business and his degree in business administration would be invaluable resources in carrying out the probate judge’s duties, which include maintaining vital public records, protecting public resources, and additional administrative duties associated with the “business” side of the office. He chose Durden to help promote his campaign with our Print Rotary Posters. Gerald Harden has served the citizens of Dale County politically for over 30 years and wishes to continue to do so. Harden believes he has the experience and the leadership capability in order to continue to make Dale County a better place today and for future generations. He is utilizing Durden’s Print Posters to campaign for his election into the Dale County Commission Chairperson Office. New Leadership and New Ideas for the Future of Barbour County is Jason Tyre’s 2012 Campaign Slogan. Over the last sixteen years, Jason has worked diligently through the Court System to provide alternative programs for substance abuse offenders to make them more productive citizens. He chose the Eufaula Digital Light House to further his campaign through outdoor media and advertising. Area businessman and community leader, Mark Blankenship announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Dale County Commission. Blankenship said he wants to put his experience, work ethic, and aggressive leadership to work for Dale County. Blankenship, a licensed residential contractor and developer, currently serves as President pro-tem of the Ozark City Council, serves as a member of the Ozark Technology board, and serves on the CB&T bank board of directors.  Mr. Blankenship chose to promote his campaign with a Durden Bulletin In Dale County.
