“CAN’T TOUCH THIS” BILLBOARD FOR DOTHAN KIA

DOTHAN KIA_MC HAMMER_RCC Board You can’t touch this…. My-my-my-my Durden has done it again. Tasked with designing a billboard to turn heads, Durden looked towards the original rapping hamsters in the Kia commercials for inspiration and were led to another rapper of the human kind. We all remember the 1990’s hit single “U Can’t Touch This,” written, performed, and produced by MC Hammer, himself. This signature song of Hammer’s is possibly one of the most recognizable records ever… which happens to be the same thing Durden wants for Dothan Kia. The 2014 Kia Soul gets 31 mpg on the Highway and costs $13,995. What better way to advertise that then putting MC Hammer on top of a 14’ x 48’ billboard. Well it’s not actually MC Hammer. It is a mannequin made to look like him, dressed in a gold & black jumpsuit. Our Creative Department and Expediting Department worked together with Dothan Kia to create this beautiful 3D Billboard work of art. If you would like #TeamDurden to design your next out-of-home advertisement, please contact our sales department to get started. DURDEN OUTDOOR BUILDS IT’S FIRST MOTORIZED TRUCK DOOR ON A BILLBOARD

IMG_0472Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc helped Action Buick GMC of Dothan roll out the red carpet for the new 2014 GMC Sierra. The Sierra is a cut above other trucks showcasing the new standard in truck interiors. Durden Strategically Expands Digital Network

In April Durden Outdoor Displays added two digital billboard locations to its expanding digital network. These new locations are in two of Dothan, Alabama’s fastest growing traffic areas – U.S. Highway 231 South at Saunders Road and U.S. Highway 84 East at Ross Clark Circle. New Locations
“Our business is about posting great creative advertisements  in front of the maximum amount of targeted prospects,” says Bill Durden, vice president and creative director of Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. “When we do this, we produce results for our clients.”
These two locations were strategically chosen because of their high increase in daily traffic over the past several years. The segment of Highway 231 South between Ross Clark Circle and Saunders Road has seen a healthy 16 percent increase in traffic over the past 11 years to 33,610 per day. During this same time period Highway 84 East at Ross Clark Circle has seen a steady 8 percent increase in daily traffic. This popular intersection now boasts over 64,000 cars per day according to the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT). Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. is a local, privately owned firm which expanded from traditional billboards to high-tech digital displays in 2007. Over the last seven years Durden’s digital network has expanded to 27 locations spanning four Southeast Alabama counties. This network reaches more than one million cars daily. Durden Outdoor is the largest out-of-home media provider in nine Southeast Alabama counties with over 1000 faces. Durden Designs 3D Billboard for Local Bankruptcy Firm

mydebtWhitaker Marketing came to Durden Outdoor with the idea of collaborating to promote their client Espy, Metcalf & Espy, P.C.   Known as Dothan’s bankruptcy lawyers, EMEPC, have more than 60 years combined in bankruptcy law, and have helped thousands of individuals and families escape or decrease crushing debt burdens. The design process of Espy, Metcalf & Espy began with several creative meetings researching the topic, defining the direction, and strategizing about the possibilities. This is when the “Ball & Chain” concept emerged from our creative minds and leapt onto the dry erase board. The expression “ball and chain” refers back to the actual ball and chain, which was a heavy metal ball secured to a prisoner’s leg by means of a chain and manacle. The ball and chain was in use in both Britain and the USA by the early 19th century (and possibly much earlier.) The earliest citation in print is from The Times, January 1819. Now, it is used as a slang term for a burden that you must carry around with you. In our design the “Ball and Chain” is a metaphor for how debt can be a burden and weigh you down. With the design sketched out, Durden’s Creative department began designing and revising the billboard. After a few ideas were mapped out the initial design was presented to the client for review. Once the concept was given a go-ahead the 3D idea developed while meeting with Durden’s production department. Excitement had sprung with this new 3D idea between all three entities! The artwork was approved and the agency decided to creatively spend their client’s ad budget on (1) stationary bulletin strategically located on Main Street in Dothan, Alabama [across from Wiregrass Church.] To add frequency and coverage to this “MY DEBT” ad campaign, they also included a digital rotary showing on our Durden Digital Network. The team at Durden then began engineering and building the 20 foot 3D Chain and Cuff to fit on the billboard. You can see how we made it by clicking HERE. Shortly after it was installed Sharon Whitaker, President of Whitaker Marketing, notified us that the client had already received a lot of positive feed back from their 3D billboard. Creating the RIGHT IDEA for the RIGHT CLIENT equals “FAMOUS” every time.   Durden Outdoor was beyond ecstatic about developing and producing this billboard campaign for Whitaker Marketing and  Espy, Metcalf & Espy, P.C.’s Bankruptcy Practice. ALABAMA Votes, Candidates Use Durden Billboards

March 13, 2012 is the congressional primary election. Who are you voting for? Eleven running candidates voted for Durden when they decided how to promote their campaign. We had the privilege of doing Eight Rotary Poster designs throughout the area, a bulletin in Dale County, & two digital billboards on our Durden Digital Network, which has 16 locations! Let’s meet the candidates who voted for us… Stuart K. Smith is an Ozark Attorney and Republican Candidate for the office of Circuit Judge, Place 1, within the 33rd Judicial Circuit, which serves Dale and Geneva Counties. Mr. Smith helped his campaign by using Durden’s Rotary posters. For past 6 years, Bill Filmore has been Chief Assistant District Attorney for Dale/Geneva Counties. Filmore handles the prosecution of major felony jury trials (usually sexual assaults and murder). Attorney Filmore also chose to promote his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Posters in Dale & Geneva counties. Ron Snell believes his qualifications and experiences, especially having taught in every Geneva County school cluster, make him the best candidate to advance all Geneva County schools as the Geneva County Superintendent. Mr. Snell chose to use rotary posters along with his other campaign elements. Fred Hamic seeks re-election to Geneva County Commission chairman/probate judge. Hamic says that in his first term he helped to get Geneva County on firm financial footing, and that the county currently owes nothing against its $10 million debt limit. He came to Durden for his outdoor advertising of his re-election campaign. Rotary Posters in Geneva County display his artwork created by our Art Department. Starla Mathews has served the citizens of Houston County as Revenue Commissioner for the past twelve years. It is this experience that leads her to seek the office of probate judge in Houston County, Alabama. Starla chose to promote her campaign on Durden’s Digital Network. Durden has a total of 17 locations when it comes to advertising digitally. Patrick Davenport believes it is important to have an attorney as Probate Judge. He graduated from UAB with a bachelor’s degree in history and received his law degree from Cumberland School of law at Samford University. Davenport said his opportunity to serve as special probate judge in the absence of Houston County Probate Judge Luke Cooley has given him a unique qualification to hold the office. Mike Stell’s mission is  to bring Barbour Counties Probate Judge’s office into the 21 Century. Snell wants to stop the long lines and make the office more “Customer Service Friendly.” Mr. Stell is promoting his campaign with Durden’s Rotary Poster in Barbour County. Steve Blair has operated a law firm for 25 years and served as Coffee County district judge for eight years. He was a 12th Judicial Circuit judge for two years and Enterprise’s municipal judge for the past six years. Mr. Blair is using Durden’s Digital Network in Enterprise to help promote his campaign to be Coffee County Probate Judge. Sharon Ard Michalic has 26 years working with Dale County. Her work experience began with the Tax Assessor and Tax Collector Offices before transferring to the Probate Office in 1994. She has had the privilege of working for two past probate judges. Now she is running for Probate Judge herself, and utilized Durden’s Rotary Poster to help her attain that spot. Woodrow (Woody) Hilboldt said his long work history in community-based business and his degree in business administration would be invaluable resources in carrying out the probate judge’s duties, which include maintaining vital public records, protecting public resources, and additional administrative duties associated with the “business” side of the office. He chose Durden to help promote his campaign with our Print Rotary Posters. Gerald Harden has served the citizens of Dale County politically for over 30 years and wishes to continue to do so. Harden believes he has the experience and the leadership capability in order to continue to make Dale County a better place today and for future generations. He is utilizing Durden’s Print Posters to campaign for his election into the Dale County Commission Chairperson Office. New Leadership and New Ideas for the Future of Barbour County is Jason Tyre’s 2012 Campaign Slogan. Over the last sixteen years, Jason has worked diligently through the Court System to provide alternative programs for substance abuse offenders to make them more productive citizens. He chose the Eufaula Digital Light House to further his campaign through outdoor media and advertising. Area businessman and community leader, Mark Blankenship announced his candidacy for Chairman of the Dale County Commission. Blankenship said he wants to put his experience, work ethic, and aggressive leadership to work for Dale County. Blankenship, a licensed residential contractor and developer, currently serves as President pro-tem of the Ozark City Council, serves as a member of the Ozark Technology board, and serves on the CB&T bank board of directors.  Mr. Blankenship chose to promote his campaign with a Durden Bulletin In Dale County.
