Make A Statement With Billboards

Uniquely designed billboards are often the most memorable ads. Whether it’s a clever or unexpected out-of-the-box design, billboards executed well are eye-catching and draw consumers in to learn more about your business.

We pride ourselves on our award-winning creative department. We love working with customers who allow us to create outside of the parameters of a standard sign and really bring the idea to fruition. With the help of our production department, we have designed and implemented some pretty impressive billboards that have increased our customers’ bottom line. Check out some of the unique billboards that can offer great inspiration for your future Out-of-Home advertisement.

Dothan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat

The Jeep extension and real time headlights create exciting imagery that is sure to catch the eyes of drivers who are looking for adventure. With a large and noticeable directional arrow, potential customers can easily make their way to the dealership to take advantage of Dothan Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat’s great prices. This 14’ x 48’ bulletin is a perfect example of adding some small but key features that really bring the sign to life.

Eagle Eye Outfitters

This 10’ x 42’ bulletin features an Omni-heat reflective Columbia jacket. Lined with red LED’s, the lining of the jacket lit up at night, bringing brand awareness to Eagle Eye Outfitters. It helped draw the attention of all those looking to buy something to keep them a bit warmer during the cooler season. Big, bold text and bright colors really took this design to the next level.

Hardee’s

Sometimes, the food speaks for itself. That was the idea behind this 10’ x 42’ bulletin for Hardee’s. It boasts an oversized extension to make the shape of the burger seriously pop. Since this appetizing design will make passing drivers hungry, it also features large, simple text to inform the viewer of the closest Hardee’s locations.

Smoothie King

This Smoothie King billboard is a rotary poster that is wrapped with vinyl. It utilizes an extension to create a straw for the smoothie cup. This was a simple addition to the design that made the item look and feel even more life-like.

Bryan Pharmacy

This 10’ x 36’ bulletin for Bryan Pharmacy features “Boll Weevil Bryan,” which is a clever decision for a company that is advertising in Enterprise, AL, where the boll weevil is the unofficial symbol of the city. This billboard features a waving arm, which is a unique, eye-catching design element to incorporate. This campaign won a Silver American Advertising Award!

Mr. Mattress

Mr. Mattress, a mattress superstore in Dothan, AL, wanted a design that is big, bold and tells a simple story – Shop Local, Save Money, Sleep Better. Durden Outdoor created a giant inflatable pillow to attach to the front of the 14’ x 48’ bulletin to bring it to life. In addition, the client wanted a billboard on the west side of town welcoming traffic into the circle city. Nothing says “Welcome to Dothan” quite like the owner waving to eastbound traffic to say hello. Check out the full video on how these designs came to life by clicking HERE. Restaurants and Out-of Home Advertising

Imagine you are driving around when hunger strikes. Oh yes — it’s lunch time. You then drive by a billboard promoting a nearby restaurant and now you just have to have it. This is the advantage of Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising. For restaurants, this marketing tactic has been proven to drive traffic. In fact, 65% of billboard viewers engaged in an action after seeing a billboard, such as visiting a website, looking up a company on social media, or even visiting the storefront. Although many businesses are tempted to cut back on traditional media, it would be a huge mistake to look past the advantages of OOH. This especially rings true for restaurants that rely on the spontaneous trips and foot traffic. Implementing OOH in your marketing strategy could help make all the difference in driving consumers to your business.   Be Brief

It is important to keep in mind that billboards are meant to be seen, not necessarily completely read. Remember that you should keep your copy brief and let your messaging be clear. Your branding should also be easily identifiable allowing your message to be instantly understood, making customers who see it instantly hungry and lining up at the door. Consider Digital

The advantages of digital billboards is not only cost efficient but also has a quick turnaround time. You have the flexibility to display and change your messaging up frequently. In fact, you can advertise different menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That way, potential customers see the most relevant information at the right time.   Location, Location, Location

If a potential customer sees a billboard that makes them consider visiting your restaurant, chances are, they’ll change their mind if the restaurant would add too much time to their trip. It’s a great idea to purchase ad space for signage that is close enough to your restaurant to make it a convenient detour, but far enough before that the driver has enough time to make a decision. Out-of-Home advertising is a great element to include in any marketing strategy, but especially for a restaurant. Having the ability to publicize different specials throughout the day with the Durden Digital Network, promote an item of the month via the Rotary Poster program or even utilizing Bulletins as directionals to drive traffic to your store, are all great ways to draw in your consumer. The visibility and engagement rate are also great reasons to consider implementing this method in your plan. Out-of-Home Advertising During COVID-19

In early 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a drop in Out-of-Home visibility due to the Safer at Home order and social distancing. Now that we are well over a year into the pandemic, people are getting back on the roads and back to a new “normal” lifestyle. Because of this, billboards were, and still are, an important aspect of your marketing campaign. With more people resuming travel, Durden Outdoor has also seen an increase in COVID-19 messaging, encouraging people to get vaccinated and save lives.       There are several rumors circulating such as “The vaccine causes fertility issues” and “I don’t need the vaccine, I’ve already had COVID.” In order to squash these myths and educate the public, city and state officials are running billboard campaigns that push customers to websites where up-to-date information can be found. The hope is by educating the public, more and more people will get vaccinated, save lives and we can return to normal sooner rather than later. Currently, anyone in the state of Alabama that is 16 or older is eligible to receive the vaccine. The City of Dothan’s “Love Dothan” campaign ran a series of “Myth” ads utilizing the Durden Digital Network. The campaign features various myths about the COVID-19 vaccine with a website address to get more information about FAQ’s and registering for the vaccine. The Alabama Department of Public Health also ran a digital Out-of-Home campaign, each featuring a simple but encouraging message about getting vaccinated along with a website to find out more information.       In a time when most people are getting back to being out and about, and therefore are regularly exposed to Out-of-Home advertising, billboards are a critical part of COVID-19 messaging. Social media is so flooded with information about the virus that it’s hard to determine what’s fact and what’s not. Out-of-Home Most Effective Driving Online Activity

According to a recent OAAA article, Neilsen just released data that examined Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and search activation. The verdict? Out-of-Home was decidedly the best media channel for driving online activity per ad dollar spent. There were several components that Neilsen reviewed when collecting the data. They first reviewed the amount of consumer online activity each media channel generated. In the past six months, 46% of search was activated by outdoor advertising. Behind search, Facebook came in at 38%, 25% in Instagram and 23% in Twitter. The amount of ad spend share for each media channel verses the amount of online activation proved that Out-Of-Home returns four times the expected rate given its relative ad spend.

With specials changing weekly, Eagle Eye Outfitters is one of our many clients who use the Durden Digital Network to keep their ads fresh and up-to-date. Recently, they launched a new website, ShopEagleEye.com, and utilitzed digital billboards to encourage the Wiregrass to “Shop Online.” Consumers are constantly looking for convenience. This was a great way for Eagle Eye Outfitters to motivate their customers to engage online while at the same time keeping their brand top of the mind. Let us work for you! “A Pleasant Surprise for Enterprise” Beautiful Billboard Promotes Downtown Boutique

serendipitybulletin Serendipity means a pleasant surprise or the luck of finding something you weren’t looking for. Serendipity by Kei Boutique means finding that one piece of clothing you weren’t even looking for, but is just the perfect thing to make your wardrobe. When Serendipity by Kei contacted Durden Outdoor to make them famous, we were beyond ecstatic to help promote their eclectic selection. We started with a conversation with Serendipity by Kei’s owner, Keisha, about her vision for her boutique, as well as their advertising goals. This was a very enlightening and inspiring step, as her energy was highly contagious and got our creative team motivated to design the best board we could. We then started brainstorming and sketching concept art, which we would send over to Keisha to discuss and review; this honed in and refined the message, as well as the design. After the concept was approved, we were able to set up a wonderful photo shoot with our photographer partner Mark Broadway, and Serendipity’s delightful model, Mary Holland. A fashion shoot like this one was great to be a part of, as we were open to have fun and show off all the great items Serendipity by Kei has to offer. Keisha’s passion for her store, her customers, her fashion, and her vision were major inspirations for our design. She worked with us every step of the way, sharing her wisdom about her store and her excitement about our concepts, designs, and final product. Keisha put her feelings about the final design best in our last conversation, with an excited “Whoopie!” To find out more about Serendipity by Kei, check out their Facebook Page.  If you would like to be made FAMOUS, contact our sales department at sales@durdenoutdoor.com or call 334-792-5056 to speak with one of our creative image consultants.

ICY BILLBOARD CATCHES MAJOR ATTENTION

In the South Alabama heat, it’s surprising to see icicles hanging from a billboard. Well here on the corner of Highway 84 West and Ross Clark Circle in Dothan you can see just that. This refreshingly cool addition was created for our client, Ashley Enfinger, for their promotion of Sears Hometown Store and Glacial Cryogenics. Ashley put it best when he said, “The billboard is great, and exactly what we needed to let people know about our businesses. Durden Outdoor is always coming up with a creative way to make us look good.” Our design team had quite a job on their hands to make a design that brought attention to both Sears and Glacial Cryogenics, and gave directions to both locations. For a bit of insider information, designers always say, “Less is more in outdoor.” Fortunately for the designers and the client, everyone was in agreement that we needed to stick with this philosophy and keep the design bold and simple, with just enough embellishment to make everything POP! That is where the icicles came in, deep from our team’s creative subconscious, likely wishing for a chilly reprieve from the near 100 degree weather this summer. These icicle additions add a cool feature (pun intended) to the billboard, drawing attention as they sway in the breeze. Be sure to check out Sears (http://www.searsoutlet.com/Dothan/d/store.jsp?store=4242#/) and Glacial Cryogenics (http://glacialcryo.com/) while you are in Dothan to see how cool they really are! GOD SPEAKS BILLBOARDS SHOW UP ON DURDEN DIGITAL NETWORK

Interruption………….. An interruption is typically viewed as an unwelcome pause on progress. However, last week Durden Outdoor launched a Digital Campaign directed at doing just that. In light of months of societal unrest, we felt as if the Wiregrass needed an interruption. These “Signs from God” serve as a ray of hope designed to focus hurried, rush-hour thoughts on God in a creative and thought provoking way. The #FAMOUS MAKERS decided the best platform for this message was the Durden Digital Network. It is the largest digital billboard network in Southeast Alabama with 28+ boards. These boards reach over ONE MILLION+ cars daily in Dothan, Ozark, Enterprise, Eufaula, and Troy. Durden’s “Signs from God” campaign is specifically designed to serve as a positive interruption from the daily commute through entertaining and inspiring content. FinalCollage
