After having this idea for some time, we knew we wanted the two billboards to work together to tell a visual story. The FAMOUS Makers recently won big at the Independent Billboard Operators Conference in Jacksonville, FL. Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. brought home Best of Show for the Tabor Pest Control Digital Campaign, adding another National Award to the FAMOUS Makers shelf. Dothan’s Largest Pill Bottle Lands on the Southside

Dothan Pharmacy is a local, family-owned pharmacy who was looking to make a powerful statement to Dothan’s southside motorists. After discussing ideas with the client, we determined a large bulletin along one of Dothan’s highest traveled arteries was just what they needed. This billboard’s purpose would be two-fold. Primarily, it needed to announce the new store location. We accomplished this by creating a larger-than-life 12 foot tall pill bottle and added a massive directional arrow to essentially slap drivers in the face and say “HEY! WE ARE OVER HERE!” The billboard also needed to convey to viewers that Dothan Pharmacy is not a big box-store pharmacy, unlike their competitor down the road. But rather friendly, fast and family owned. Dothan’s Most Traveled Intersection Gets a Digital Upgrade

After over 10 years of FAMOUS Making, Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. recently upgraded one of its first Digital Displays located at the highest traffic intersection in Dothan, AL. The former double-sided Digital Billboard originally resided at Krispy Kreme facing the Ross Clark Circle and Westgate Parkway, catching east and westbound traffic. We decided that it was finally time to retire this beauty, relocate across the street and increase its size.

As you drive along West Main Street passing Friend Bank, you will now see a large, NEW 10′ x 36′ double-sided Digital Billboard. This Display still targets east and westbound traffic but offers a clearer visibility as well as a longer read for traffic. The weekly traffic count through this highly popular intersection has a total of 379,470+ cars. Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. partners with Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam

Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. is excited to partner with Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam for the 5th straight year, bringing thousands of people to the beautiful beaches of Panama City Beach, FL. Festivalgoers travel from all across the United States not only for the country music but for the views of the most gorgeous beaches along the gulf coast as well. The three-day country music festival is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, September 1st thru 3rd this year.

Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam utilized a mix of 4-Week Rotary Posters and the Durden Digital Network to saturate our ten county service area to include Dothan, Troy, Eufaula, Ozark, Geneva and Enterprise markets to name a few. They were able to run top of the mind awareness ads to promote the festival early on in the campaign. This allowed them to pre-sale tickets and boost the hype for one of the largest country music festivals in the south. Out-of-Home Most Effective Driving Online Activity

According to a recent OAAA article, Neilsen just released data that examined Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and search activation. The verdict? Out-of-Home was decidedly the best media channel for driving online activity per ad dollar spent. There were several components that Neilsen reviewed when collecting the data. They first reviewed the amount of consumer online activity each media channel generated. In the past six months, 46% of search was activated by outdoor advertising. Behind search, Facebook came in at 38%, 25% in Instagram and 23% in Twitter. The amount of ad spend share for each media channel verses the amount of online activation proved that Out-Of-Home returns four times the expected rate given its relative ad spend.

Feeding the Wiregrass

Durden Outdoor Displays, Inc. recently had the opportunity to partner with the Dothan Rescue Mission to help raise awareness of the hunger crisis in the Wiregrass. There is an estimated 500 people in the Wiregrass area without some form of adequate housing, with over 250 of those people residing inside of the city limits of Dothan. The Dothan Rescue Mission is a shelter first formed in 1979, originally started as a men and women’s lodge and a kitchen for the homeless and less fortunate in the city. They offer very successful programs that feed people daily, provide shelter and offer GED and discipleship classes. They also offer computer, job and life skills to help give each individual opportunities that they may otherwise never be afforded. Today, the Dothan Rescue Mission has a 60-bed Men’s Lodge, 25-bed Women’s Lodge and 16-bed Family Lodge along with a chapel and kitchen. A large part of their success is having donors to help make it all come together. Durden Outdoor’s creative team stepped up to plate to help create a campaign encouraging citizens of the Wiregrass to help support and feed the homeless. With three Digital Displays rotating through out the Durden Digital Network, we hope to encourage and grow community support of the Dothan Rescue Mission. Shop Local, Shop Headland

headlandchamber_shoplocal_durden_outdoorRhonda Harrison, executive director of the Headland Chamber of Commerce, knows that there is more to the City of Headland than what meets the eye. Mrs. Harrison reached out to Durden Outdoor as Headland was in need of a way to promote community events and new businesses that was affordable and consistent. Although initially hesitant, the board of directors approved to give billboards a try and advertise with Durden Outdoor. After a few strategic conversations, it was determined that our Rotary Poster program was exactly what the Headland Chamber of Commerce needed. Every four weeks, they rotate to a new billboard among a group of approved locations. This allows them to change their message and promotion monthly while keeping a strong presence on Hwy 431 North. Mrs. Harrison credits their billboards with keeping Headland top of mind in a large audience outside of the city limits and by linking Headland into the community of Dothan. She commended the Durden Creative Department stating “they keep our ads simple yet attractive. Durden’s tactics are strategic and beneficial.
